The Sight Awareness training is a combination of theory, discussion, practical exercises and experiential learning; the session gives students a solid understanding of the implications of living with a sensory impairment and how their actions can improve lives.

Topics include,  Communication methods including signage, braille and large print, the main causes of sight loss in the UK. Case studies and personal experience, practical activities using lighting and magnification for everyday tasks.  Resources and gadgets available to help people with sight loss.  Canes and practical guiding techniques used to guide someone safely inside and outside.

There is no charge for this Training, except if there is failure to attend without giving notice, when a charge of £50 may be incurred. 

If for any reason you are unable to attend or no longer require the Training, please cancel your place on the course through our Training Portal or email phworkforcetraining@medway.gov.uk

as it allows another person to attend.
