Help Reduce Smoking in Medway
Please be aware that this course is only available to those that live or work in Medway.
Tobacco dependence or smoking remains the single biggest cause of preventable illness and death. The stark reality is approximately 64,000 people – young people, parents, grandparents, friends – are killed by their habit each year. Sadly, smokers lose on average 10 years of life.
The good news? .. Supporting England to be a smokefree society would lift around 2.6 million adults and 1 million children out of poverty.
Contrary to popular belief, not even smokers like smoking. Most smokers say they want to quit, however without support, 95% of quit attempts end in relapse within a year. Ask any ex-smoker. It is our job to provide supportive, free services that allow all smokers to try again and again.
This interactive session aims to provide you with an understanding of tobacco dependence and its impact on the people and the environment around us. We will equip you with the knowledge and skills to confidently signpost to the most appropriate services.
