Anyone can experience loneliness or social isolation, and it isn’t always easy to admit.   Loneliness is completely normal – we are human beings who need social connection to thrive. This course will equip you with the awareness and understand how you can help reduce the experience of loneliness and isolation in your work.

Anyone can experience loneliness and social isolation, and it isn’t always easy to recognise it or to admit to such feelings.  Loneliness is a normal human emotion.  But our Social Health determines if, when, and how we experience loneliness and isolation.

This masterclass looks at the importance of Social Health as an essential part of health and wellbeing.  Our need for social connection and belonging and why awareness of social health is as important to our health as our physical and mental health.

If physical health is about our bodies, and mental health is about our minds, then taking care of our social health is about our relationships, our sense of belonging and why loneliness and isolation are so detrimental to health and wellbeing.

As increasing numbers of people express feelings of loneliness and isolation and it has been described as a public health epidemic, it is vital to understand what we all can do to reduce the experience of loneliness in ourselves, our families, and the communities we are a part of.

This master class will help you to reflect on what your optimal social well-being looks like, why it’s important to build and strengthen your social health and how we can work to reduce loneliness and isolation and drive a more socially healthy society.
