This course is for those that would like to learn about self-harm and how to support children and young people that may be engaging in self-harming behaviours.

This session is open to all parents and carers but please note that the aim is to provide general information and guidance.

The content will not cover SEND or Neurodiversity in detail and we will not be able to explore individual situations or concerns within the session as it wouldn’t be safe to do so.

We do provide signposting to other services for any parents that have worries about their own health and wellbeing or that of their children and would like to know how to access support services.

By the end of this session, you will have an understanding of:

  • Definition & characteristics of self-harm
  • Types of self-harm
  • Risk factors & circumstances
  • Behavioural & physical warning signs to look out for
  • Self-harm cycle
  • Harm minimisation
  • Ways as parent / carers you can help & support their children
  • Who else can support – local & national services

There is no charge for this Training, except if there is failure to attend without giving notice, when a charge of £50 may be incurred.

Would you like to inform us of any learning needs or resource requirements that will support your learning experience?
