The two-day course is designed to enable delegates to deliver Healthy Way which is a lifestyle intervention programme aimed at those who would like to lose weight and live a healthy life. 

Healthy Way is a community-based group lifestyle programme which looks at making behaviour change to reduce the risks of Type 2 Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease, supporting weight loss and physical activity.


The course has been designed by specialists in the Medway Public Health team and this training will enable you to become a facilitator. As a facilitator you will be trained to run this course on our behalf. We aim to pass on good evidenced based information that we hope you will find useful. As a facilitator you will deliver the course which will help those attending understand the links between health, weight, inactivity and the foods we eat. In addition to the links between stress, emotional well-being, and Type 2 Diabetes.


Each week you will be facilitating a different topic to do with health and wellbeing. These topics aim to enable those attending the course to undertake small changes that will improve their lifestyle and encourage them to be more active and eat healthily. Which will in turn, reduce the risks of developing further health complications such as Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease or certain cancers.

To deliver an evidence based, accessible lifestyle weight management course for adults aged over 18 years of age, which will support people with a BMI >25 to reduce their risks of developing Type 2 Diabetes and lose weight.


To increase community workers knowledge of the causes and management of Obesity, and the challenges facing Medway.


To provide both professional and non-professionals with the skills, knowledge and confidence to facilitate a weight management/lifestyle course.


To provide all resources, a clear and effective training pack, and specialist support throughout the course.
